SLS/SLES | Sulfates

Sulfates: they are inorganic ions that are both found in nature and synthesised for various industries e.g. the cosmetics. They are widely used in many cosmetics products e.g toothpaste, cleansers to help with forming. 

There are different kinds of sulphates but the most common are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).

Dangers of Sulfates: Sulfates can cause irritation to eyes, mouth , lungs . They are also known to strip away valuable moisture and protective barriers of the skin causing irritation. Some say it causes no problem in small amounts, but others say it can cause cancer when combined with other substances or is heated.
